Miss Julie has art experiences to help fill your badge requirements or she can custom taylor an art experience to fit unique needs.

Environmental Awareness
started with a discussion/slide show about the 3 "Rs" and then scouts create a large scale sculp[ture made form recycled things.

"Art to Wear" (Our most popular) explores self expression through wearable art.

ALL Scout Troop Experiences:

Please consider these activities as a large portion of the badge requirements of your scouts, but not ALL of them. Many of badges require trips to museums, interviews with professionals and other endeavors which cannot be provided by ARTrageous.

Art and Self Expression
The students will create an artwork that is an expression of themselves inside and out. Using a recycled cigar box as their base, they will create a “self portrait of the inner self, their personality, using unique colorful patterned papers, papers with images and photographs that have meaning for them. Then they’ll add raised shapes, doilies, ribbons trims and much more. Then the scouts will print on their boxes using a variety of stamps as well as markers and watercolors paints as needed. They will complete their box by adding 3-dimensional trinkets like beads, buttons, feathers, key chains and much more. The scouts will find out that if they collect their own photographs, racquets and stuff from home and bring it in, that their art will be much more personalized and satisfying. Of course LOTS of recycled material will be provided as well. $12.00 per scout

Art Methods and Mediums
Scouts will explore 4 different art processes combined to create a single work of art of their own creation and theme. Processes include printmaking, making their own stamps, painting, potter’s clay, collage of a variety of materials. The results are wonderful, creative and very personal to the artist’s own voice, and can be taken home that day. $10.00 per scout

Environmental Awareness

Scouts review the ideas of reduce, reuse and recycle. They will explore the many ways “Green” helps preserve our world. They observe how a restaurant in Washington D.C. is completely green, how certain cities are 80% trash free! They will receive a listing of recycling centers in their area. They will culminate there new knowledge by creating a “building/Sculpture” made completely from recycled materials. Scouts are highly encouraged to prepare for this by collecting their own recycled materials and bringing them to use in their building. Of course LOTS of recycled materials will be provided as well. Scouts will take home their “Green” structures that day. $8.00 per scout

Architectural Structure
Scouts will participate in a game that will familiarize them with a very quick history of architecture. They will observe the style of a couple of internationally famous architects. They will then create an architectural sculpture/building. By doing so they will experiment with balance, structural stability, interior and exterior space, form verses function. Scouts will take home their structures that day. $10.00 per scout

Art to Wear

Scouts explore fashion as a form of self expression. They observe the fashions created famous designers. They are then introduced to number of different methods that they might use to design a garment. They come up with a plan to create a wearable piece that best expresses their own personal style. They will then colorize them using their own drawings and personal motifs which will be transitioned into a somewhat “tie-dyed” look. NOTE: These garments will be kept at the ARTrageous Studio so the inks can be washed and SET. They can then be picked up a few days later by a parent or leader. $13.00 per scout

International Cultural Art: Choose your country!

Scout leaders will choose the country they would like their troop to explore. ARTrageous will provide an art experience for that choice. The scouts will first explore the country’s location, climate, government as well as a bit of their culture. They will then create art in the style used by that country. They will sue the same techniques, tools, symbols and motifs used by that country. Their final art pieces will be an expression of the scout’s ideas of that theme and will appear to be typical of the art from that country.

Experiences of Country from regions of these choices:

Haiti ~ China ~ Japan ~ Mexico ~ India ~ Middle Eastern countries ~ Russia ~ Egypt ~ Renaissance Italy ~ Medieval ages of the United Kingdom ~ Whales ~ French Impressionism ~ South African regions ~ South American regions ~ Native American Indian Nations: Northwestern, Plains, Northeastern, Southwestern.

Each country experience will include a slide show of country, its art and culture along with touchable objects from there. The art experience will be in a style, medium and process traditional to the culture of that country.

ARTrageous’s Julie Flanagan has 27 years of art education and has traveled greatly. She can easily come up with new cultural art processes for regions of America (the deep south, New England, American History from Boston area, Art of Santa Fe…) Just call or email and a great personalized project can be generated just for your troop! $10-12.00 per scout depending of the project you choose.

Celebrating the Science of Small: Nanoscience!

Using the 7 steps of the scientific process, scouts will participate in a series of fun and interesting experiments that will help them explore and better understand Nan science. We will explore an understanding of the scale of a nanometer. They will also observe through experimentation the purpose of Nan science on the surface of Nasturtium leaves, in sun screen and nanotechnologies that clean our water naturally, this new science discovery is not found in most current science text books. This will be new information they haven’t done in school and will be quite interesting and entertaining. The scouts will take home the results of their experiments and observations as well more information on Nan science. There is no specific product that will go home with the children. $8.00 per scout

Paper Clip Science

Using the 7 steps of the scientific process, scouts will explore the science of balance, flight, magnetism, inertia, measurement, momentum, electricity through experimentation and presentation. The scouts will participate as a group or individually in several experiments. The students will record the results of some of these and others will have finished pieces that can be taken home that day. $8.00 per scout

Art with Math

Scouts will see how math can play in important role when creating certain works of art.
First they will explore the many application of basic math as it is used in our world. Then they will use it to create a work of art that cannot happen without making simple mathematic calculations. Each scout will have a work of art to take home that day along with a new knowledge of the importance of math to create art and the get along in the world. $8.00 per scout

ARTrageous Birthday ART Party Information:

Thanks so much for wanting to give the gift of ART and CREATIVITY to your sweet daughter!

I’ve given many parties here at the “ARTrageous Creative Studio” in my home, and all of them have been great successes! So now you can be part of the fun too!

For what ever your child’s interests, “Miss Julie” can create an art project. She has LOTS of GREAT ideas and will work with you to create the perfect experience. There are lots of art mediums to choose from: painting, drawing, printmaking (or ALL of the above in one project), clay, assemblage with found objects and much more. Choose themes like: fantasies like fairies, dragons, cartooning, puppets, clay animals (not kiln fired), Art-to-Wear fashion design, self-portrait art-box (from a cigar box), science fiction, unique cultural arts processes from China, India, Mexico, American Indian, European…, sculpture, architecture. We can talk about your art ideas desires over the phone.

Most parties last about 1½+ hours for the art experience only.

The parties do not include Miss Julie providing the cake and drinks. But if you want to stay another 30 minutes and bring those things and do them in the studio, no problem, but there will be another fee of $1.00 per child (with a minimum of $10.00). The same fee would apply again if you need an additional 30 minutes extra. Half of the that fee for the fee would apply for an additional 15 minutes beyond the 30.

The cost per student will depend on the project. It can range from $8.00 per child to $12.00 per child. There is a $60.00 minimum , but no minimum for the number of children. The maximum is 16 children. It is preferable to have at a parent for every 8 children present during the party.

An accurate count must be provided within 12 hours of the party via e-mail or phone. No refunds for no-shows. A rough estimate can be provided at booking.

Parties at Miss Julie’s ARTrageous Creative Studio have always been a huge success as well as a darling memory for the children with a FUN art piece to take home that day.

Thank you and I hope to see you soon!
