Early Childhood

Your child's art experience ARTrageous is very process oriented! Their outcomes will be genuinely THEIRS: their paint strokes, their gluing, their modeling, their markings.

Young Children learn cyclically, so in art, repetition with variation helps them evolve their artistic innovative thinking as well as their technical skills.

Miss Julie always promotes creative thinking and working skills: patience, experimentation, changing their plan when desired, finishing what they start, freedom to express their new ideas verbally and artistically, and much more.

I think I love the little 3-5 year olds the MOST! Their wide-eyed curiosity, and eagerness to learn is truly invigorating to a teacher!

"Look, Miss Julie, My arm can be part of our line sculpture!"

A Japanese Festival of Lights on July 26th - in Prairie Village Kansas!

While their finished product might be difficult for adults to understand, the children will know all about their work: when they painted what colors, which papers they glued on top of, and which one they tucked underneath. It is important that we don’t undermine their art experience by verbally “misunderstanding” their art. An article Miss Julie wrote on “How to Talk to Your Children About Their Art.” will be provided at class.

To set your child up for success, he/she should be able to use the bathroom alone, and able to be away from parents/care-givers, relatively well. Parents are asked to walk their children into to the studio, stay for a few minutes, and then leave your children to experience the art process without distraction.
